Yoleing
Eclipse own two beautiful wooden rowing boats. Each eight seater yole was originally designed as a Shetland long line fishing boat, but they are perfectly suited for group activity on the Lake.
Yoles provide all the atmosphere and serenity of exploring the lake via canoe or kayak but with a much greater range, as they are significantly faster. It is a great team experience with a number of roles on board with between 2 and 6 people at the oars providing the power, someone operating the rudder to steer the boat and one person navigating.
Our trips are suitable for complete novices or people with experience. We work with you to make your trip exciting, challenging, safe and most importantly fun.
Examples of yoleing activities
Yole Orienteering
Orienteering with a difference! Using the yoles and armed with a map and compass we set you off to navigate around Lake Windermere to find control points.
Afternoon Tea
Travel from our base at Cragwood to Bowness or Ambleside, moor the boats, go for afternoon tea or ice-cream.
Yole Race
For a bigger group (8-16 people) why not take out both yoles for a challenging race. Eclipse can create a course, as long or as short as you desire, depending on the level of challenge you think you can handle.
