When the SPA scheme was introduced, Philip Poole was one of the first registered providers with the Mountain Leader Training Board.The course dates below are administered by Apex Training and some, but not all, of the courses are run by Philip Poole. This national award is designed for climbers who wish to organise and supervise safe, effective and enjoyable climbing and abseiling sessions for relative novices on single pitch crags. The award is now regarded as an essential qualification for anyone working in outdoor centres or on climbing walls.

On our training courses, we will answer all the questions you can throw at us, backed up with practical sessions, videos and information packs. We also realise that assessments can be nerve-wracking experience! We try and keep our SPA assessments informal and relaxed, allowing you to show your full potential.
